We hope you are ready for another update on our state-of-the-art teaching kitchen and production kitchen being built on Main Street! Although our plans for a connected restaurant are still on hold, our new kitchen will allow us to provide you with many more of our award-winning baked goods, prepared foods, and our own line of seasonal value-added products.
We are working on several plans to provide you with delicious food from our farm to your table that includes everything from salads to sandwiches to sauces to seasonal prepared food items that will all be available at our farmhouse market or online at farmtakeout.com.
We know some of you are disappointed that our original restaurant plan is on hold and that the production kitchen will not be open to the public, but we do have a surprise that will be good news for you… We are launching our very own food truck this year that will do pop-ups at our farmhouse market! Our plans for our food truck include from-scratch donuts and fried chicken, sounds pretty great, right? Can anyone say no to fried veggies with a homemade ranch dipping sauce? We didn’t think so! We will incorporate more of our delicious, organic veggies from our farm as the seasons go on.
Hopefully, you read our first blog post about it where you can get all the deets, if you didn’t check it out here and get caught up on the newest building on Wardensville’s Main Street!
The new space is coming together and is well underway. The kitchen exhaust hoods (the largest piece of equipment – about the size of a car) have even been installed, which is a huge step in the construction process! A walk-in cooler and freezer has been installed as well, moving us closer and closer towards our Bakery and Culinary teams being able to work in the new space. We are excited for all the potential that comes with having a new social enterprise and living classroom as part of Farms Work Wonders where we can process and cook with even more organic veggies from our farm, expand our local food network and provide experiential workshops in the kitchen for our Junior Crew.
We’re thankful for the opportunity to create more farm-inspired food and get it into your bellies! We hope to see you all soon! Keep an eye out for more updates, and for our new products to hit the shelves in our market.
My name is Violaine and I’m involved in all things food at Farms Work Wonders. I’m a mountain girl at heart who moved to West Virginia from DC so I could hike more, live a simpler life, and cook with food from farmers I know by name.
January through March are a flurry of activity down on the farm. With only one or two of us tending the tunnels and chickens over the holiday break, in a moseying and meandering sort of fashion, we all come back in various states of readiness to start the new year. We...
